Youth Orchestras In The Mesa-Phoenix Metro Area

Phoenix, and it's metro area, including Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Scottsdale and Chandler, have some impressive youth orchestras to play in.  This is such an important outlet for young enthusiastic music students.  Parents, this is where you should want your kids to spend their time 'hanging out'!!  Not at the malls....

Often school orchestras fall short of offering the most challenging music to play because they must offer music for everyone that is that school orchestra. Most of the time the school orchestra only has the time and numbers to get ALL of the players together in the same room and at the same time.  It must be difficult for the teacher to try to challenge all levels there and at the same time, try not to leave anyone behind.

This is not to say that the public schools are not good enough, but for talented, hard working student players, they are always searching and needing for harder music, more of a technical and musical challenge that push the best players.  The most rewarding atmosphere is to join some youth orchestra.  The valley youth orchestras vary a little and also obviously geared towards the metro area that you live in.  For instance, if you live in Surprise, there is a youth orchestra near you and you won't have to go all the way to Phoenix or east Mesa to play!

Most youth orchestras meet once a week (either after dinner on a school night or a Saturday.)  The music demand is usually much harder and more demanding that their school's music and students are usually given assignments to go home and play to be ready for the next week.

It's another great outlet for young, enthusiastic players.  From a parent's perspective, it's safe environment where nice (nerdy) music kids can meet and have a great time together making music.

Some of the area's top youth orchestras (we are not ranking them here in any way!)
